If your family prefers warm, sunny locales to snowy destinations, consider a family trip this winter to one of these U.S. cities. These cities ranked highest for overcoming the winter blues:
- Miami, Florida
- Honolulu, Hawai’i
- Orlando, Florida
- Tampa, Florida
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- Tucson, Arizona
- Austin, Texas
- Houston, Texas
- San Antonio, Texas
- Atlanta, Georgia
Florida and Texas are the best states to visit during winter, each with three cities in the top 10. Miami, however, takes the top spot due in part to its average 72-degree temperature, more than 10 hours of daily winter sunlight and more than 100 indoor activities per 10 square miles.
Honolulu boasts the warmest average temperature on the list, at 75 degrees. Orlando and Tampa took the third and fourth spots, respectively, for warm temperatures and plenty of daylight hours. Tucson offers the lowest cost of living of the top 10 cities.
This study was conducted by online casino JB, which analyzed major U.S. cities based on seven key metrics: daylight hours December–February, average winter temperature, safety index, monthly rent, cost of living, cozy cafés per 10 square miles and indoor activities.
