Bucks County’s Peddler’s Village hosts its annual Scarecrows in the Village display, where dozens of handcrafted scarecrows, shopping, festive décor and dining create a charming scene for families. Returning in September, Hersheypark Dark Nights transforms the park into a Halloween destination with haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment and more. For the National Apple Harvest Festival, make your way to Adams County during the first two weekends in October to enjoy artisan demonstrations, local food, live entertainment and generations-old traditions. And families visiting Harvest Valley Farms Fall Festival in October can expect corn mazes, hay bales, pumpkin patches and seasonal attractions, while Fall Fest at Camelback Resort promises mountain adventures, pumpkin bowling and more.

Corn Mazes, Farm Adventures and Outdoor Playgrounds
Head to Simmons Farm and tackle seasonal corn mazes, board hayrides, pick pumpkins, enjoy harvest treats, and take part in farm games encouraging friendly competition between siblings and parents. Meanwhile, over in Montgomery County, Merrymead Farm celebrates the season with its annual Harvest Days, where families can select the perfect pumpkin, indulge in fresh apple cider donuts, take a scenic hayride and enjoy other seasonal attractions.

Scenic Train Rides
Swap highway traffic for vintage railcars and front-row seats to the state’s fall foliage. On Jim Thorpe’s Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, you’ll witness dramatic mountain landscapes and colorful forests. Strasburg Rail Road in Lancaster County offers historic steam trains carrying passengers through countryside and farmland. This train also offers themed excursions and seasonal experiences in fall.
Indoor Fun for Unpredictable Fall Weather
Blue skies aren’t always a given in fall, but the state offers a plethora of indoor adventures when the weather isn’t cooperating.
