Cape May is the southernmost beach in New Jersey. It is also the country’s oldest seaside resort town. Visitors can experience the city’s history when strolling by the Victorian homes. Cape May’s downtown is perfect for families, with its numerous shops and restaurants. There’s a nearby zoo if you want a break from the beach, and wineries if you want to unwind at the end of the day.
If you’re more interested in beach over boardwalk, head to Island Beach State Park. There are no restaurants or rides here. Instead, the focus is the park’s natural offerings. The 10-mile stretch of beaches features walking and horseback riding trails, picnic areas and fishing spots. It is home to a variety of wildlife like blue herons and red foxes.
Ocean City’s 2.5-mile boardwalk and miles of beaches offer the perfect selection of family-friendly activities. Go for a stroll or bike ride along the boardwalk. Get your kicks on the many rides and attractions. Savor shore classic dishes, from pizza and fries to saltwater taffy and fudge. Keep in mind, Ocean City is a dry town.
Point Pleasant offers something for everyone. Jenkinson’s Boardwalk is the main attraction with rides, games, restaurants, shops, an arcade, mini-golf, a ropes course and miles of beaches. Visit Jenkinson’s Aquarium to view a variety of marine life including sharks, turtles and penguins.
Stone Harbor is known as a quiet beach town. There are plenty of boutiques and restaurants to explore. If you want to stay active during your visit, opt to ride a bike, kayak, try stand-up paddle boarding or play mini-golf. Beaches are easily accessible from anywhere in town.
The Wildwoods is comprised of Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, North Wildwood and West Wildwood. The resort town is well-known for its excellent boardwalk packed with rides, waterparks, games, restaurants and souvenir shops.
