Canada Updates COVID-19 Policies for Travelers

In a time when COVID-19 regulations constantly change, it is important for family travelers to keep up to date on the latest policies. Canada implemented strict restrictions for travelers visiting the country since the pandemic began; however, as of Oct. 1, the country lifted all COVID-19 restrictions.

Travelers entering the country are no longer required to wear masks, show proof of vaccination, quarantine upon entry or submit to COVID-19 testing either pre-travel or on arrival. These new regulations apply to travelers entering by plane, train, car or cruise ship. Travelers are still encouraged to wear masks when traveling, and anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms is asked not to travel in or out of the country.

The recent changes are attributed largely in part to a high vaccination rate (the country has a 90 percent vaccination rate for eligible citizens over the age of 12), as well as decreased infection rates, showing Canada passed its peak in COVID-19 infection rates. The new relaxed policy expects to attract travelers to visit Canada once again, giving the country’s travel industry a chance to recover from the hit it took during the pandemic.
