Cycle Through the Loire Valley

France’s Loire Valley region offers family travelers more than 3,000 miles of cycling routes. The UNESCO World Heritage site boasts scenic trails along the Loire River and through the countryside and charming cities. The official Loire by Bike route spans 560 miles along the Loire River and connects travelers with a network of cycling professionals.

Heritage in the Loir-et-Cher

This route passes by many famous châteaux including Château de Beauregard (famous for its Gallery of Portraits), Château de Troussay (one of the region’s smallest châteaux), Château de Villesavin, Château de Chambord, Château Royal de Blois and Château de Cheverny.

The King’s Highway in Indre-et-Loire

This route

brings travelers from Château Royal d’Amboise to Château de Chenonceau, retracing the route taken by French royalty.

Scenic route in Sancerre

This route features rugged terrain and hills, perfect for seasoned cyclists. Pass along the Loire River and nearby vineyards. Opt for a stop at the medieval town of Saint-Satur.

Orléans to Beaugency

This route begins in Orléans, the city of Joan of Arc. Cyclists make their way to the medieval city of Beaugency. Optional stops along the way include La Pointe de Courpain nature reserve, gardens of Roquelin and Château de Meung-sur-Loire.
