Cruises

Earlier this month, Walt Disney and Japan’s Oriental Land Co. announced plans to launch a new cruise ship that will sail from Tokyo in 2029. The ship, to be modeled after Wish, the largest vessel in Disney’s fleet, will have a maximum capacity of 4,000 passengers. The new ship will mark the cruise line’s ninth in its fleet.

OLC, operator of Tokyo Disneyland, will also operate the new vessel departing from Tokyo. The ship will feature many guest-favorite venues and experiences, complete with 1,250 staterooms. Details about the maiden voyage, onboard experiences and itineraries will be announced at a later date.

“Disney Cruise Line has ambitious plans to bring family vacations and Disney storytelling to more guests around the world than ever before,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman, Disney Experiences. “We are thrilled to continue the success of this expansion as we collaborate with Oriental Land Co. to introduce another distinctly Disney vacation experience to families and fans in Japan.”

Currently operating five cruise ships, Disney also plans to launch three other ships, including one to set sail from Singapore in 2025. Disney Cruise Line presently sails to destinations like the Caribbean, Alaska, Australia, Europe, Hawai’i, Mexico and Canada.
