Palm trees and white sandy beaches probably come to mind when you think of Miami, or maybe it’s the city’s hopping club scene or the Cuban culture of Little Havana. None of those things are wrong, but there is more to the city than great weather, beautiful beaches and the chance to party like a rock star. The city has some great family-friendly attractions, and whether you are there to stay a few days or just passing through on your way to a cruise, you can keep kids happy and entertained while you enjoy some year-round sunshine.
Hit Up Some Local Museums
Miami’s got plenty of art, history and culture on display at its many museums, but Miami Children’s Museum gives kids a chance to enjoy some creative play time. At Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, families can explore the aquarium and planetarium, along with exhibits teaching kids about AI, dinosaurs and more. Each exhibit has hands-on, immersive experiences that get kids excited about science.
Meet Some Wildlife
Head to Zoo Miami to give kids a chance to meet incredible wildlife, both living and extinct. They’ll love animal experiences like feeding gentle giraffes, rhinos and camels, but they’ll also have a ball discovering the world of dinosaurs at the Dinos Among Us exhibit.
Be a Pirate for a Day
The whole family can appreciate a sightseeing tour when it’s on a pirate ship. Miami Aqua Tours offers a tour of beautiful Biscayne Bay aboard pirate-themed ship El Loro. The tour lasts for about 1.5 hours and while parents will love seeing the sites of the iconic Miami skyline from the water, kids will enjoy pirate-themed fun while wearing pirate hats the tour company provides at boarding.
