Disneyland is a dream come true for most kids and family travelers, but have you ever wondered what else Anaheim offers? When the family has had their fill of Disney or when your wallet simply needs a break, there are plenty of other great things for families to do in Anaheim beyond the city’s biggest claim to fame.
Anaheim is a great destination for sports, no matter the time of year. In summertime, you’ll want to catch a ball game at Angel’s Stadium and, in winter, you can head across the road to Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks for another family-favorite, a professional hockey game. When not in use hosting its home teams, these stadiums feature various other events throughout the year from music concerts to monster truck rallies.
When you’ve got hungry bellies to fill, head over to Anaheim Packing District. This destination is home to four historic landmarks revitalized to create usable spaces for visitors to enjoy some food, shopping and community events.
Far more than a food court, Packing House, once a Sunkist orange processing plant, is home to eateries representing just about every cuisine your family could want, often in fusion form. This unique destination personifies Southern California, representing its diverse mix of cultures and its orange-producing history.
The Packing District also consists of the MAKE Building and the Packard Building, a former marmalade factory and car dealership, respectively, which feature even more food and drink spots. You can sip some wine, try some locally brewed beers and snack on some staple California eats like delicious tacos. Farmers Park rounds out the district with an ongoing schedule of community events and activities where you can learn something new or just unwind and relax with some light entertainment.
And if you still want some theme park fun, there is an option absolutely perfect for the little ones but at a fraction of the cost that comes with a single big park ticket. Adventure City features 17 different rides, shows and attractions designed just for your little ones so, while teens will still prefer the excitement of Disneyland, families with little ones can have a great time on a budget.
