It’s a tale as old as time still being told today as Fairmont San Francisco recently announced a collection of immersive guest experiences inspired by Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, on stage at San Francisco’s Orpheum Theatre July 14–Aug. 9.

Fairmont San Francisco will transform areas of the property into a whimsical world inspired by the story, including a themed family guestroom, an inspired Afternoon Tea series, Tonga Room and Hurricane Bar specialty cocktails, lobby activations, and an online giveaway in partnership with San Francisco Travel.

Fairmont San Francisco’s exclusive pop-up, Beauty and the Beast-themed family guestroom, complete with bunkbeds, is available to book through Aug. 9. The room captures the romance, wonder and whimsy of the story with themed décor, immersive touches, custom welcome amenities and other surprises.

Starting July 11, Fairmont San Francisco’s Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar debuts a Beauty and the Beast-themed Afternoon Tea, available weekends through Aug. 9. Priced at $65 for children ages 12 and under and $115 for adults, the menu includes:

  • Pastries: Be Our Guest cherry scones and Beauty and the Blend rose water biscuits
  • Sandwiches: The Enchanted Mousse, with duck liver mousse, micro arugula and toasted brioche; The Provincial Guest egg salad with pain de mie and manzanilla olive; The Beast’s Guest roasted lamb, pickled red onions and horseradish aioli; We Haven’t Spared a Thing, including Sonoma chicken salad with root vegetables and Champagne vinegar; and Something There ham and cheese croissant
  • Desserts: Enchanted plum rose tartlet; mini blueberry pie; Tales as Old as Time lemon tart strawberry cake; white chocolate pot de crème; and red velvet cupcake with golden buttercream and red candy rose

The Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar joins the celebration, offering a collection of specially crafted Beauty and the Beast-inspired libations, such as the Enchanted Spritz, a blend of limoncello and premium sparkling wine garnished with a candied sugar wheel. A non-alcoholic option for the younger guests, Midnight Petals combines chamomile tea, simple syrup and sparkling water.

Guests find a themed Beauty and the Beast-inspired vignette installation in the lobby as an interactive photo opportunity through Aug. 9. The storybook-inspired costume on display is sure to become an Instagram-worthy experience on Nob Hill.

In partnership with San Francisco Travel, Fairmont San Francisco, ATG San Francisco and Disney Theatrical Group, a special online giveaway offers one lucky winner a Beauty and the Beast experience package with a grand prize of a one-night stay in the themed guestroom; four tickets to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Orpheum Theatre; and a themed welcome amenity.

The show tickets and hotel stay will be awarded for the evening of Aug. 5. Learn more here.

Guests can also unlock discounts on all evening performances and Wednesday matinees using code FAIRMONTSF.

A Trip to London: Exploring the South Bank

Courtesy of a night spent at London’s Sea Containers hotel, I had the opportunity to explore the South Bank neighborhood. Let’s dive into some family-friendly highlights:

Best of Both Worlds

Enjoy the best of both worlds when you fly with TAP Air Portugal thanks to the Portugal Stopover program. With the program, TAP passengers, whether traveling for business, leisure or both, can stop in Portugal for up to 10 days at no additional airfare on the way to their final destination. What does this mean for travelers wishing to explore by both land and sea? It means after flying to Portugal with TAP and experiencing the country in an entirely new way, travelers can then embark on scenic river and ocean cruises from  Portugal’s port cities, or fly with TAP to another European destination.

Summer Fun Awaits in New Hampshire’s Lakes

When you’re traveling in New Hampshire, you’re never far from water. Although its Atlantic coastline is short, lakes — including New England’s largest — are scattered throughout the state, so family travelers will have plenty of opportunities for swimming and water sports.

Amsterdam Art Museum Made Just for Kids

This past June, a new art museum opened in Amsterdam, Netherlands, constructed solely to encourage children’s creative processes. KiMu Children’s Art Museum aims to inspire, connect and challenge visitors of all ages. Here, the development of the creative brain is central, and children are encouraged to find their own language. The result is a museum working in a process-oriented way.

If You’ve Never Been to a Cake Picnic, It’s Time to Head to Bellevue, Washington

Bellevue is making quite a name for itself as a culinary destination. With talented and creative chefs doing incredible things at restaurants across town, entire weeks dedicated to different foods like Dumpling Week and a massive picnic just to celebrate cake, Bellevue is the place to be for foodies in the state of Washington.
