On Sept. 24, visit North Georgia Folk Festival to see local Athens bands and solo artists perform at Sandy Creek Park. Enjoy live music from 11 a.m. to dark, as well as artists, traditional craft demonstrators, food vendors and kid-friendly activities.
Athens Haunted History Walking Tour
Jeff Clarke leads these family-friendly tours around all of the historical haunts of Athens. Book a tour to walk along the college town streets and learn about Colonial Georgia, the Civil War, Prohibition and more.

More than 155 performances covering all genres gather at Porchfest, Oct. 2. Athens-area musicians perform from 1 to 8 p.m. on 150 porches in six historic neighborhoods of Athens. This event is a great way to experience all Athens music scene has to offer.
Challenge yourself to a 5K or half marathon through Athens’ historic districts, downtown and the University of Georgia campus. Live music performances line the streets for runners and walkers, and the event allows participants to experience the different sights of downtown Athens and the Boulevard neighbhorhood. AthHalf runs Oct. 22 and 23.

Wild Rumpus Parade & Spectacle
Taking place in downtown Athens on Oct. 29, this large-scale Halloween holiday, music and arts celebration sees people of all ages visit and take part. The festival is free to attend and continues to be a favorite among locals and visitors.
See more of Georgia by riding in the annual Athens to Savannah Ride. Running Oct. 19–23, the ride raises funds for the new HiLo Trail, which will connect to Athens’ Firefly Trail and extend to Savannah. Participants can choose between a three-day, 235-mile Road Ride on Oct. 21 or the new five-day, 320-mile gravel ride on Oct. 19.

The property was the ancestral home of George Washington’s great-great grandfather, Augustine Warner I, also the ninth great-grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II.
