Plan a getaway to Wilmington, Delaware, for family travel this fall. With fall festivals, spooky fun, outdoor adventures and historical attractions, the region offers something for everyone.

 

Fall Festivals

Check out Wilmington International Film Festival Oct. 9–12. This annual event celebrates film, music, art and international cuisine. The River Towns Ride & Festival cycling event Oct. 11 brings participants through Delaware’s historic river towns, ending with a post-ride party. Check out Hagley Craft Fair Oct. 18–19 and browse works from Mid-Atlantic artisans. Attend the Diamond State Black Film Festival Nov. 6–9, showcasing films by and featuring People of Color. Taking place Nov. 7–9, Delaware Antiques Show is one of the most popular in the country.

 

Spooky Fun

Explore one of the most haunted mansions in Old New Castle, Delaware, on an exclusive walking tour from Hauntings in History.

 

Outdoor Adventures

Witness beautiful fall foliage in Wilmington. Ramsey’s Farm hosts hayrides, bonfires and other fall fun for families. Brandywine Creek State Park boasts 14 miles of trails with stunning views. Head to White Clay Creek State Park for 37 miles of multiuse trails and fishing opportunities. Ashland Nature Center is set on 130 acres.

 

Historical Attractions

Visit some of the historic covered bridges throughout the region, including Ashland Covered Bridge, Wooddale Covered Bridge and Smith’s Bridge. Tour the historic estates and gardens owned by the du Pont family, including Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library; Hagley Museum and Library; Mt. Cuba Center; and Nemours Estate.
