Whether you have teens who surf or toddlers who play in the sand, the beaches of San Diego are a good fit for the whole family. And family travelers will certainly want to take the children to San Diego Zoo and its Safari Park.
But, in addition to its many family attractions, the city presents a full calendar of major events, including parades, music and activities for all ages. In late June and early July, San Diego’s annual county fair fills Del Mar Fairgrounds with entertainment, exhibits, games, food and rides for both kiddies and thrill-seekers. It’s the biggest county fair in California.
Teens into pop culture will want to be in San Diego for Comic-Con International in July to meet their favorite stars and the artists who create the imagery for Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and other animated cartoons. Younger kids can see new shows at the Children’s Film Festival.
Also in July, the San Diego Pride Parade and Festival turns the historic Hillcrest community into a giant block party with costumes, music, entertainment and a dazzling parade.
October is a good time for families to travel to San Diego as Kids Free San Diego brings a month of unbeatable bargains. Take advantage of free meals at participating restaurants and free admission at dozens of attractions and entertainment venues like SeaWorld San Diego and Legoland California, as well as San Diego Zoo.
