Can “budget” and “luxury” exist in the same sentence? They can when hotel properties make a concerted effort to create family packages designed to ease the strain on the wallet while offering value for those hard-earned vacation dollars.
A case in point is the Arch London, a posh boutique hotel near Hyde Park, wooing families with kids and pets with a Family Fun package for the summer.
The package treats children like VIPs at check-in, when they receive a specially designed Archie Teddy stuffed animal, complete with its own VIP (Very Important Pet) T-shirt. In the hotel’s Martini Library, kids find a huge toy box full of toys they can play with during their stay, along with loaner books they can read there with complimentary cookies and milk, or take back to the room for bedtime stories.
Other special suite features include private outdoor terraces, four-poster beds and/or kitchenettes, as well as dramatic, oversized artwork.
Once in the guestroom, children will find special bathroom products and pint-sized bathrobes, slippers and clothes hangers designed especially for them.
Mom and dad might appreciate the selection of classic novels in the suites, and all rooms have a full Sky HD TV package, DVD player and internet radio with more than 19,000 channels.
The family package accommodates up to three guests per room, and connecting rooms also are available. A whole range of children’s amenities is available on request, including night lights, baby baths, high chairs, changing mats, baby cots and rollaway beds.
Young guests can also dine for free at the on-property Hunter 486 restaurant, as long as they are with their parents, and all of the other kid-friendly amenities at the hotel are available at no extra cost.
Also free are such in-room amenities as soft drinks, water and juice from the minibar, Jing teas, a Nespresso coffee machine, WiFi and exotic flavored drinks in the lobby, changed daily.
During their stay, the whole family can start each day by digging into a full English breakfast before heading out for a day of exploration. The location of the Georgian townhouse property, located in Marylebone, is within easy daytrip distance from Hyde Park, the West End and many of London’s most famous attractions.
A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Pride of Britain, the hotel features 82 rooms, including 11 suites on six floors.
The Arch London Family Fun Package is priced from about $540 per night.
