When it comes to all-inclusive, family-friendly beach resorts, it’s hard to top Fantasia Bahia Principe Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. One of seven hotels that make up the Bahia Principe’s Punta Cana property, Fantasia is its family-friendly luxury option, something that comes with a number of perks.
Access to the Entire Resort
Each of the seven hotels at Bahia Principe has its own swimming pool, restaurants, entertainment and gift shops. Depending on the hotel you choose, you may only have access to your designated restaurants and swimming pool or those of specified hotels. Guests at Fantasia have access to the entire property’s restaurants and swimming pools.
On the other hand, Fantasia’s pools, restaurants and amenities are off-limits to everyone but Fantasia guests. That means only Fantasia guests can swim in the ginormous pool surrounding the fairytale castle and visit the hotel’s kid-friendly spa.
Water Parks and Clubs
There’s plenty to do as a Fantasia guest. Bahia Principe has two waterparks: Fantasia Water Park and Bahia Scouts Water Park. As a Fantasia guest, your family has access to both. Fantasia Water Park boasts colorful, castle-like structures, straight and curved slides and plenty of water features while the smaller Bahia Scouts Water Park is next to the Bahia Scouts Mini Golf course.
When it’s time to get out of the sun, kids ages 4 to 12 can make crafts, learn to cook, dress up and play games at the Kids Club 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Teens have their own space, Teens Club, where they can play ping pong, foosball and video games. There’s even a DJ on hand to help them spin their favorite tunes.
More to See and Do
While you can spend your vacation lounging at the resorts’ pools or on the beach (just a 10-minute walk or short tram ride from Fantasia), there’s plenty to do both on and off the resort. Kids and teens can join parents at the spa, and in the evening, the family can watch a light show against the backdrop of the Fantasia pool’s castle.
Families can also book adventures through the resort to discover the Dominican culture, zip line through the jungle or go snorkeling in the ocean. There’s ATV, buggy and Jeep rides as well as horseback riding and swimming with dolphins, too. You can even take an excursion to Isla Sanoa.
Dining
Although Fantasia guests can dine anywhere on property, all of the buffets, including Fantasia’s, are the same, so it makes sense to stick to the hotel’s Larimar Buffet. The buffet had a great selection of typical all-inclusive fare, making it easy to find something to satisfy every member of the family.
For dinner, the property has a wide range of restaurants, from steakhouse to Japanese and Italian, each with a special kids menu. Fantasia guests can additionally dine at Il Paradiso, Garden Circus and Le Gourmet. Be prepared for your dinner to be pleasantly interrupted by entertainers who perform short programs.
Accommodations
One of the best reasons to stay at Fantasia over the property’s other hotels is its accommodations. The rooms are spacious, with enough room for two queen beds, a narrow desk, a couch and a table with chairs. There’s also a balcony with a small sitting area and a refrigerator stocked with complimentary water, soda, potato chips and adult beverages for mom and dad.
The rooms have huge bathrooms, too. In addition to a shower, there’s a bathtub, perfect for kids covered in sand after a day at the beach.
