Croatia is on everyone’s radar lately and, while you can hit a few hot spots, like Dubrovnik and Split, on a multi-destination Mediterranean cruise, a Katarina Line Croatia sailing will take you and the kids deeper into this enticing destination.
“The beautiful islands and crystal blue waters of the Adriatic Sea are just the start of a visit to Croatia,” said Daniel Hauptfeld, marketing director, Katarina Line. “Croatia also offers a rich cultural and historical legacy dating back to medieval and Roman influence. Its museums, picturesque towns and national parks are modern treasures that have captivated visitors for generations.”
Katarina Line expanded its fleet for 2018 — including deluxe superior, 38-passenger cruisers and traditional wooden vessels called gulets that cater to as few as seven passengers. The line offers guaranteed weekly departures through mid-October, with transfers available to all of its customizable land tours.
Take the seven-day Adriatic Explorer, for example, which sails from Opatija, a resort town on the northernmost coast of the destination, down to Dubrovnik, on the country’s southern tip. Of course, there are plenty of stops in between, including the islands of Rab and Korcula, and the historic coastal towns of Zadar, Sibenik, Split and Metkovic.
Young nature lovers in your family can tour Krka National Park, known for its waterfalls, and the mysterious Zadar Sea Organs, where sea waves make music through a series of tubes under a set of marble steps.
Parents can enjoy a wine tasting and light tapas lunch at the Bibich Winery and a maraschino liquor tasting in Zadar, while the kids can sample the local cakes in Rab.
Or choose a weeklong Northern Gems cruise, which sails round-trip from Split, Croatia’s second-largest city, located on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea. This is an island-hopping itinerary, where families can swim in secluded coves and explore some of Croatia’s most popular attractions. Ports of call include the towns of Trogir, Rogoznica, Sibenik, Sali and Zadar, and explores the Kornati archipelago and the unspoiled beauty of Zlarin island.
Best of all, for families looking for a bargain — and who isn’t? — the company is offering up to $250 off on select cruises during the 2018 season. Specials include more than $90 off on its Northern Gems cruises aboard the Riva, a brand new, deluxe superior vessel for 2018, valid on its July 14, Aug. 4 and Aug. 11 departures. Cruises start at $1,617 per person, double, after the discounts, and includes free airport pick-up on select departures. A detailed list of current specials can be found here.
