New York offers winter festivals, cozy eateries, ski mountains, new hotels and so much more for seasonal fun across the state. Find activities suited for your family this winter season.
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year to visit the State of New York,” Governor Kathy Hochul said. “From beautiful snow-covered landscapes to world-class food and drink, New York State has something for everyone this winter. We’re ready to welcome back tourists from across the country and across the globe to experience the fun and make new memories.”
Here’s some of what you can look forward to this winter:
Hit the Slopes
Plan an amazing getaway at more than 50 ski areas in New York, including Windham Mountain, boasting more than $4 million in capital improvements; Holiday Valley with its high-speed detachable quad chairlift; Whiteface, which finished renovating its Cloudsplitter Gondola; and Oak Mountain, which doubled its snowmaking capacity.
Winter Festivals
Auburn, New York, and Cayuga County, will celebrate Harriet Tubman’s 200th birthday, March 10–15, 2022. Ice Castles will be in New York State for the first time, from early January to early March, while the Lake George Winter Carnival will be held every Saturday and Sunday in February.

Best of Both Worlds
Enjoy the best of both worlds when you fly with TAP Air Portugal thanks to the Portugal Stopover program. With the program, TAP passengers, whether traveling for business, leisure or both, can stop in Portugal for up to 10 days at no additional airfare on the way to their final destination. What does this mean for travelers wishing to explore by both land and sea? It means after flying to Portugal with TAP and experiencing the country in an entirely new way, travelers can then embark on scenic river and ocean cruises from Portugal’s port cities, or fly with TAP to another European destination.
