If you find yourself in St. Augustine, Florida, in the latter half of this month or December, you’ll enjoy ample opportunities to kick off the holiday season with the family.
It all starts Nov. 18, when the city’s annual Nights of Lights celebration begins. Running nightly through the end of January, the free event covers the historic district in a holiday-worthy display of white lights, the perfect backdrop for a few family photos.
Then, you’ll have several Christmas parades to add to your calendar, depending on your visit and whether or not you’d prefer to watch a parade float down the streets or along the water. On Dec. 2, the city’s annual Christmas parade takes place downtown. The same night, a parade of decorated boats travels down the intracoastal waterways in nearby Ponte Vedra Beach. The next week, St. Augustine Yacht Club hosts a similar event.
Kids want to see Santa? You’ve got options, including at Vilano Holiday Village starting Dec. 2, and at Surf Illumination at St. Augustine Beach on the same day.
And if you need an adult beverage or two to amp up the holiday cheer, check out the Nights of Pints event, coinciding with Nights of Lights at local breweries throughout the city.
