Family travelers can expect new and exciting things coming this summer in Bristol. From new attractions to a light festival, Bristol buzzes with energy this summer for visitors of all ages.
The Bristol Light Festival hosts Luminarium, Aug. 4–14, immersing guests in a sensational sensory experience. The event features a maze of winding paths and domes where natural forms and light meld into an array of color and light in unique designs. Visitors will feel as if they are standing within a stained-glass window.
Opening July 30, Wake the Tiger is a new interactive and immersive art experience. Visitors enter another realm, wandering through 27 unique artistic rooms. Guests of all ages can enjoy discovering the secrets of the space, with tickets starting at £16.50.
Space enthusiasts must visit Summer of Rockets! at Aerospace Bristol, an event running through Sept. 2. Home to the last Concorde to fly, Aerospace Bristol hosts daily rocket-themed activities, from teaching guests about how to build a rocket to giving visitors the chance to decorate a giant rocket. Aerospace Bristol also invites guests to launch outdoor water rockets and see who comes out on top at the firing range.
Bristol Aquarium’s newest exhibit, Bon Voyage, runs July 21–Sept. 4. Here, visitors receive their own passports to stamp as they take part in talks and activities exploring the world’s oceans. Bon Voyage sees the aquarium’s main foyer transform into a port terminal hub and the café into a departure lounge.
