Traveling with kids can be a lot of fun, but, when visiting other cultures, it can be a bit challenging when it comes to dining, to say the least. Preparing your kids ahead of time for the different dishes that may be served can help, but, if there is not enough time to do that, the next best thing is to find kid-friendly spots that have dishes the entire family will enjoy. Let’s take a look at some in Ushuaia that will appeal to all appetites.

Taberna del Viejo Lobo

While the food is certainly appealing at Taberna del Viejo Lobo, so is the ambience. With views of the harbor, complete with cruise ships when they are in port, and attentive staff who speak English and Spanish, you will have plenty to keep you entertained while you wait for your meal. Be sure to take your camera, as there are kitschy characters to take photos with. And, what’s more, vegetarian and vegan options are available.

El Viejo Marino

Considered the best seafood restaurant in town by some, family-owned El Viejo Marino certainly is popular for its appetizing menu, convenient location and friendly, casual service. One of the most popular items is the king crab and another the seafood stew. Tip: Arrive early for dinner service to avoid longer wait times, but, if you do have to wait, the area is terrific for a quick walk about.

Bar de Pizzas

Sometimes, pizza is the way to go after a long day of play, and one place to try in Ushuaia is Bar de Pizzas. With plenty of toppings to choose from, your family will likely be able to replicate their favorite from back home. Or, try something different, like a fried egg on top. The menu at Bar de Pizzas also features calzones, sandwiches, salads and desserts, so there is sure to be something for everyone.

Ovejitas de la Patagonia

For a quick bite to eat in Ushuaia, stop by Ovejitas de la Patagonia, a coffee shop with light fare and some of the best desserts in town, so those who have a sweet tooth will certainly enjoy. Adults can sip coffee and everyone will enjoy the hot chocolate. The cafe’s location in a busy part of town makes it a pleasant stop for a respite.

Some of Europe’s Best Day Cruises

A week cruising along the Danube or the Rhine may be the stuff of dreams for many, but family travelers can enjoy views from the water in ways kinder to the family budget. Many riverside cities offer scenic cruises, and some Baltic or Mediterranean ports have daytrips to nearby islands or coastal attractions. In several cities you can cruise the canals, and in Switzerland you can spend a day cruising on Lake Geneva, with sightseeing stops in lakeside towns.
