Lapland Hotels SnowVillage transports visitors to the future this season with countless experiences to create the ultimate futuristic winter atmosphere. Known internationally for its snow and ice art, the Finland-based hotel has been preparing for this special event since early November 2021 in celebration of its 20th year of SnowVillage. SnowVillage is set to open Dec. 16; the hotel’s accommodations will be available starting Dec. 20. SnowVillage will remain open until April 3, 2022.
The futuristic theme of this year’s SnowVillage entails sci-fi productions, robotics and future vehicles. All of the ice sculptures will be designed to reflect this theme using modern techniques to create clean-lined art pieces with a sci-fi blue-white shade accompanying each ice piece.
“During this anniversary, we want our visitors to think about the future of tourism. We will build, for example, a railway station and space ship of the future in Lapland Hotels SnowVillage. The most popular sculptures from past years will also make a comeback — to the delight of many,” said Janne Pasma, production manager, Lapland Hotels SnowVillage.
Another exciting feature of SnowVillage is the 100-seat ice restaurant, open until April 10, 2022. The SnowVillage will also include an exhibition room for arctic art, a movie theater, ice bar, snow hotel with various suites and an ice slide. SnowVillage has 10 snow suites and three cabins for two to four persons. In total, 40,000 cubic meters of snow and 250,000 kilograms of ice is going into the building of SnowVillage.
