Sin City and the City of Lights may not conjure up the image of family friendliness, but Las Vegas is a surprisingly welcoming spot for kids if you know where to go and what to do. Start by skipping the high-rolling casinos and scantily clad stage shows and opt for casinos that actually keep kids in mind.

Circus, Circus

Circus Circus isn’t just a great place for parents to come and try their luck at gambling, it also features an epic Adventuredome with five acres of indoor fun. That indoor element is crucial in a town where summer heat is a scorcher. Kids can try their hand at indoor mini golf at Pirates Bounty, circus-style games and an arcade. There are also free circus acts flying through the air daily while the premium Cirque Du Soleil offers a family-friendly, must-see experience that still feels like a high-caliber show.

If your kids get swept up in the excitement of the city, they’ll love New York-New York where the Big Apple meets the Las Vegas Strip. Broadway-caliber shows, an adrenaline pumping roller coaster and a recreation of the famous skyline delight visitors of all ages. Kids with a competitive spirit and a sweet tooth love stopping by the Coney Island Emporium with midway-style arcade games and a Hershey’s Chocolate World flagship store.

Orleans Hotel & Casino

Although there are plenty of Las Vegas hotels and resorts that offer kids club and dedicated fun, they’re harder to come by in casinos. That’s what makes Kids Tyme at the Orleans Hotel & Casino special with entertainment designed with little ones in mind. Kids are supervised while exploring the jungle gyms, coin free arcade room, movies, art and craft time and snack bar for potty-trained 3-year-olds on up. Parents are required to stay in the building while the kids are in care, but have up to five hours to grab a bite, try their hand at poker, take a dip in the pool or go bowling without ever needing to leave the property.

Excalibur Hotel & Casino

Stop the car when you see the last castle on the south Strip (and the only one). You’ve arrived at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino. The casino has a decidedly more laid-back vibe that can be appealing to parents that want to get away from the high-end posh casino culture. Families can check out the Tournament Of Kings dinner theater show where knights joust on horses while guests feast on a three-course meal. You’re also just a short walk over to the New York-New York Hotel where you can ride the coasters or hit Hershey’s Chocolate World.

Red Rock Casino Resort Spa

If you’re hoping to get just a little off the Strip and away from the bustle of Las Vegas, head to Red Rock Casino Resort where kids are welcome to join their own quest. The Kids Quest child care center offers a program for tiny tots on up, crafts, karaoke, video games and a sports zone. There’s also plenty of family fun at the resort, including bowling, a movie theater, outdoor concerts and live entertainment.

By the time your kids are done making new friends and exploring the fun Las Vegas casinos offer, they may not want to leave. Just don’t be alarmed if they start reciting, “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” We promise it means something else entirely to them.
