Virginia’s Massanutten Resort gives families exactly what they need for the perfect getaway, offering a little bit of something for everyone in Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Situated just two hours south of Washington, D.C., this resort is a great place to rest up and play after a trip to the country’s capital.

Once you arrive at Massanutten, you’ll quickly realize why it is the perfect place for a family vacay. It’s almost a city in itself, and there really is something for everyone, from skiing in winter to award-winning indoor and outdoor waterparks, hiking and mountain biking. There are two 18-hole golf courses, along with a driving range and a FlingGolf course, which combines golf and lacrosse for a game the whole family can play. The family adventure park has plenty of outdoor activities, too, like gem mining, tubing down the hillside in summer, an adventure course for the nimble and zip lining for thrill seekers. There is even a bounce house for the little ones, an escape room for a family adventure, and rappelling and mounting climbing excursions for the hardcore adventurous guests.
When it comes to lodging, there are nine separate options to choose from, including hotel accommodations and individual villas housing families of all sizes. With a 6,000-acre property, lodging options are spread out around the resort, so you have your choice of staying on the mountain near the ski area (perfect in the winter) or in the valley near the water park — there are even accommodations that are pet-friendly.

There are a variety of dining options for everything, from light fare to catering, and from July through September, you can also take advantage of the bounty of local harvest at the farmers’ market on the grounds. All of these activities and adventures, not to mention festivals throughout the year that celebrate fun and entertainment (along with giving back to the local community) let visiting families make the most of each season at this year-round resort.
