Montauk Yacht Club, the waterfront property on Lake Montauk on Star Island, expands its family-friendly programming with a new surf school and kids’ club.
Through a partnership with Jamie O’Brien Surf Experiences, Montauk Yacht Club offers guests the unique opportunity to hang 10 and perfect their surfing skills under the support of local experts. Founded by pro surfer Jamie O’Brien, the program provides an authentic experience in a one-of-a-kind surfing community. Professional surfer and East Coast YouTube personality Ben Gravy will serve as the program’s Director of Surf.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in the water here, and have lifelong friends who are some of the best surf instructors on the East Coast,” said Gravy. “I’m grateful to collaborate with Jamie, the Montauk Yacht Club, and the local surfing community to craft unique and memorable experiences for our guests.”
Guests of all ages can participate in daily lessons to build a strong foundation with the skill and gain confidence in the water. Instructors will be there every step of the way to support them, too. Sessions include private lessons, group classes and dedicated kids surfing experiences.
This season, Montauk Yacht Club introduces The Salty Club, a program designed for families and little travelers. Travelers can expect a mix of on-the-water adventures and on-site creative experiences. Examples of activities include Little Reelers Fishing, which allows children to explore local sea life; Tennis Clinics, giving young guests the chance to learn a new skill in a fun setting; Art Workshops; Rock n Roll Playhouse Music Shows; Lighthouse Cinema screenings; and ALBA Bambini Pizza-making classes, allowing younger travelers to explore the world of Italian cooking.
