MSC Cruises sailed into the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS books with a unique claim that will be of great interest to family travelers. MSC World America set a new record, with the crew aboard the flagship ship, for assembling the longest line of LEGO ships. The attempt took place during the ship’s journey from Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, where it had been under construction for three years, to Miami, Florida, its new homebase.

“MSC Cruises’ entertainment team is committed to expanding onboard experiences and taking them to the next level. We partner with the world’s top entertainment brands to create something truly magical. It’s fantastic to see the collaboration between GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ™ and LEGO® on MSC World America come to life in this way,” said Steve Leatham, VP Entertainment, MSC Cruises.
More than 1,000 crew members meticulously constructed and lined up the LEGO ships to form a 291-foot-long display along the ship’s World Galleria on Deck 6 from aft to forward. Each ship was about five minutes to construct for almost 7,000 minutes or 116 hours of work. A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator made sure the record was attempted according to guidelines.

The record-breaking feat comes after MSC Cruises last year announced plans to roll out its GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS entertainment program across its entire fleet.
Matteo Mancini, Family Entertainment Development director, MSC Cruises, added, “On MSC World America we will offer three weekly, multigenerational and unmissable entertainment experiences with GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ™ and we will have the first LEGO® Parade and LEGO® Game Show in the cruise industry. Our teams have come together to create a fun, immersive and unforgettable family entertainment program, making sure there is something for guests of all ages to enjoy.”
