Destinations / North America

Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest state park in the country, is officially getting bigger and family travelers can now enjoy even more hiking trails and overlooks. The park expansion adds 150 acres (nearly 5 miles) along the Niagara River, incorporating Whirlpool and Devil’s Hole State Parks, once their own separate state parks.

Devil’s Hole and Whirlpool receive only a fraction of the visitors Niagara Falls State Park does, and these two former state parks will be rededicated as “zones” within the larger park. Devil’s Hole offers hiking, fishing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Whirlpool State Park overlooks Niagara Whirlpool on the Niagara River and lower Niagara Gorge and features nature trails and a stone staircase descending into Niagara Gorge.

The expansion also involves more outlooks and sights like Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center and Aquarium of Niagara.

Looking ahead, the park also plans to add better transportation and improved visitor amenities, like formal play areas and concession spots. A new, multimillion-dollar visitor center is also part of ongoing park improvements, featuring interactive exhibits and a glass façade.

The park’s growth aims to encourage visitors to stay longer. The new Niagara Falls State Park now runs continuously from Niagara Power Vista Visitor’s Center to Niagara Scenic Parkway.

This Hotel is the Perfect Base for Families in Tokyo

For years, whenever I asked my children where they wanted to go next, the answer was always the same. “Take us to Japan,” they said. When we finally made it, I put a lot of thought into where to stay.

Best of Both Worlds

Enjoy the best of both worlds when you fly with TAP Air Portugal thanks to the Portugal Stopover program. With the program, TAP passengers, whether traveling for business, leisure or both, can stop in Portugal for up to 10 days at no additional airfare on the way to their final destination. What does this mean for travelers wishing to explore by both land and sea? It means after flying to Portugal with TAP and experiencing the country in an entirely new way, travelers can then embark on scenic river and ocean cruises from  Portugal’s port cities, or fly with TAP to another European destination.

Icelandair’s Long Weekend Getaways Are a Great Way to Explore

Icelandair is well-known for its stopover program, which allows passengers to stay in Iceland for a few days at no extra charge. It’s a great way for families to see a new place and explore a new country on their way to and from Europe. When my family travels, we enjoy spending a couple days exploring Reykjavik and Iceland’s natural beauty as part of our trip. Iceland has become one of my family’s favorite destinations. We always find something new to do, no matter how many times we visit.
