The NYC Winter Lantern Festival returns to New York this year and adds new locations — perfect for family travelers visiting the region for the holidays! The new locations include Queens County Farm Museum, SIUH Community Park in Staten Island, Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn, and Smithtown Historical Society in Suffolk County.

“Lantern festivals have been a part of Chinese culture and history for thousands of years, honoring our ancestors and celebrating peace, prosperity, and good fortune,” said Haokun Liu, partner, Kaleido Arts & Entertainment Group. “We are thrilled to bring back the NYC Winter Lantern Festival now its fourth year, expand to new locations, introduce all visitors to the beauty of these artisan installations, and have the show become part of New York’s cultural holiday tradition.”
The festival features more than 10,000 LED Chinese-inspired artisan lanterns, live performances at select locations and on-site food options. Tickets are on sale now; save 30 percent through Nov. 11 with promo EARLYP.

Here’s a look at the immersive, illuminated experiences:
- Journey to the East at SIUH Community Park: Enjoy lanterns inspired by Chinese myths and legends, and lantern displays featuring the animal kingdom. Find rideable illuminated swings, food vendors and photo ops.
- Nassau Drive-Thru Adventure at Nassau County Museum of Art: This is a drive-through experience with lit tunnels and lanterns inspired by outer space.
- Suffolk Winter Lantern Festival at Smithtown Historical Society: For the first time, Smithtown transforms with a light display featuring flowers, animals and more.
- Illuminate the Farm at Queens County Farm Museum: The Chinese lanterns on display here are all handmade by artisans, inspired by theme parks and Chinese myths and legends.
