Los Angeles is known for its progressive experiences and world-class art collections, making it an ideal destination for art lovers of all ages. This April a truly unique art exhibit is coming to town. Photoville, a one-of-a-kind art installation which originated eight years ago in New York, is finally coming to the City of Angels.
Created by United Photo Industries and presented by Annenberg Space for Photography, this unique outdoor art show makes use of repurposed shipping containers to house an extraordinary photo exhibit. The show’s creators strived to increase community awareness of photography and provide greater access to this amazing art form for people of all ages.
Photoville is a great way for art-loving families to experience the work of photographers from Los Angeles, across the country and around the world. Visitors not only get to roam through the exhibit’s multiple modules housing artwork, but interact with and learn from the artists themselves, creating an amazing opportunity to open young minds to the wonderful world of art.
The exhibit, like the previous years’ exhibits in Brooklyn, is designed to feel more like an art festival than an art exhibit. The event’s creators not only use the shipping containers to house the showcased photography but also utilize photo cubes and light boxes to display the artwork, resulting in an experience like nothing encountered in a museum or art gallery.
The effect creates a unique opportunity for art lovers to view professional photography and to teach up-and-coming artists to think outside of the box in terms of where imaginations and creativity can take them.

This event will take at the city’s Century Park and will occur nightly over two consecutive weekends, April 26–28 and May 2–5. The event will be free to attend and is designed to be family-friendly. In addition to the artwork on display, the event will also include nighttime projections, talks by the artists whose work is displayed and educational photo workshops.
Family-friendly activities make Photoville the perfect place to bring the kids to enjoy a spring evening learning about photography. To round out the festivities there will be plenty of food to choose from with vendors specially selected from LA Smorgasburg, offering a selection of some of the best food trucks the city has to offer. Adult beverages will also be available at the event’s beer garden, ensuring there will be something to satisfy every member of the family.
