Kids

It’s that time of year when the weather gets cold and snow starts to fall in droves, causing schools to close and work days to shorten. Such weather means the perfect reason to spend time at home for some quality family time, both inside and outside.

Kids normally wake up on snow days bouncing off the walls, excited for the day off and ready to play in the snow. Get into your snow gear and head outside for sledding, snowball fights and more.

If your family is into adventure and thrills, invest in plastic saucer sleds for all, as they tend to be the fastest and best for going down hills. Find the best hills around town and see who can slide down fastest.

There are so many different ways to play in the snow. Start out by having a snowman-building competition. Break off into teams or have everyone build their own. Have everyone vote on their favorite snowman based on categories like creativity, height, size and any other categories you might think of!

Next, consider breaking out into a snowball fight; but, before you do, make sure the snow isn’t icy, but soft enough so no one will get hurt. Participants can also build a fort for protection against incoming snowballs from the opposite team. If your crew isn’t frozen and worn out by the end of the fight, work together to build an igloo for the family to hang out in.

Once everyone is all tuckered out and tired from a day full of fun, change into your comfiest pajamas, make some hot cocoa or tea, put on your family’s favorite movie and snuggle up around a fire — the perfect end to the ultimate snow day.
