Preparing for your summer vacation can take some doing. Starting early to get deals on flights and hotels, making plans everyone will enjoy, organizing schedules and budgeting can feel like a full-time job — and don’t forget the packing. Save money by shopping for what you may already need for the home, kids and yourself and pack easier.

Begin with eyewear; traveling in the summer requires sunglasses. Protect your family’s eyes with SportRx — no matter what vision they may have. Offering everything from daily glasses to prescription snorkel masks, SportRx has travel gear for the whole family.

Whether you or the kids wear prescription lenses or forgot to pack your contacts, having a back-up, travel-ready pair in your case can be a lifesaver. Active families will love the prescription goggles and shopping favorite name brands from Anon, Oakley and Nike to Smith and Dragon.

Just lounging on the beach, fishing on a boat or getting out on the green for a round of golf will require a pair of shades. SportRx offers prescription sunglasses and you may meet the quota for some discounts of $50–150 off orders of $250–750.

If you’re mixing it up this year and heading toward colder weather, SportRx offers ski and snowboard goggles in styles for the whole family. Add on a helmet and you’re ready for the slopes.

When traveling with the whole family, bringing travel-sized products can get expensive. Shop Brandless for toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, multivitamins, beauty products and any household items you may need for an Airbnb.

Friday: Spend a Weekend Riding History on California’s Highway 1 Discovery Route

Tucked into the central coast of California is a trail of history waiting to be found by your kids. The Highway 1 Discovery Route through San Luis Obispo County snakes along the winnowy Pacific Coast Highway, CA-1, between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The more than 100 miles of mostly protected coastline begins after a four-hour drive from San Francisco at Ragged Point, or about three hours from Los Angeles at Nipomo. The trail features 10 cities, connected by cliffs, carved by a moody ocean, and a slower pace of life. There are plenty of reasons to stop and walk into the past, preserved by those whose hearts still live there. Nature lovers will linger on the many trails to hike and picnic areas. We drove from Los Angeles with two 9-year-old boys to explore this part of the state.

Croatia for Families: Dubrovnik, Food and More

The coastal city of Dubrovnik, in the south, is perhaps the most popular destination in Croatia for families. The red roof tops of the white buildings are a strong contrast to the jewel-toned Adriatic Sea surrounding the city, making it a picturesque stop for many cruise ships. The city is known for being affordable for families looking for a seaside vacation.
