Snowmobiling

There’s a reason Grand County is called Snowmobile Capital of Colorado. Bring your own engine or rent one from a local outfitter and navigate the scenic backcountry of Grand County. Popular spots include Rabbit Ears Pass, Arapaho National Forest and Indian Peaks.

Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding

Because the county sits against the Continental Divide, it’s one of the best destinations for skiing and snowboarding thanks to its major snowfalls each season. The internationally known Winter Park Resort and family-friendly slopes of Granby Ranch are must-visits. For experienced riders, opt for backcountry areas like Second Creek Trail, Berthoud Pass and Jim Creek.

Cross-Country Skiing

Grand County is home to some of the best Nordic terrain in the country, with hundreds of miles of both groomed and ungroomed trails. Find four world-class Nordic Centers with track-set terrain, as well as lessons and gear rentals.

Ice Fishing

Fish for the famous trout of Grand County at the Three Lakes region (Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Lake and Grad Lake). You’ll find massive lake, rainbow and brown trout here. Don’t miss the Wolford Mountain Reservoir Annual Ice Fishing Contest and annual Three Lakes Ice Fishing Contest, either.
