To find the perfect destination for whatever type of thrills your family prefers, check out our list of spooky Halloween stays to find the perfect match, whether looking for fun and silly thrills for the little ones or seriously haunted hotels for the older thrillseekers in the family.
The Hotel Chelsea, New York City
Known as the second-most haunted place in New York City, a stay in this historic hotel isn’t just a chance to be spooked, but also a chance to introduce the family to the living history of this incredible city. The hotel serves as a glimpse into the city’s storied history. The Chelsea has hosted some of the most famous names in pop history, from Andy Warhol and Jack Kerouac to Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. As a state and national landmark building originally built in 1883, it is reportedly home to numerous ghostly guests such as Mary, a survivor of the Titanic who hung herself in one of the rooms following the tragedy.
The Hawthorne Hotel, Salem, Massachusetts
Perhaps nothing says spooky quite like Salem, the home of the infamous Salem witch trials. A visit to this historic town wouldn’t be complete without a night at Hawthorne Hotel. Located in the heart of Salem, this hotel has seen plenty of local history since it first opened its doors in 1925 and is believed to be one of America’s most haunted hotels. Guests have reported moving furniture, faucets turning on and off and ghostly apparitions.
A stay at Legoland Resort is always fun for families with little ones, but Halloween is an especially fun time to enjoy the spooky fun. Legoland resorts currently offer hotel and ticket packages, letting families enjoy both the parks and resorts, fully decked out for the spooky season. The Brick-or-Treat Monster Party, happening every weekend until Halloween, is a fun-filled Halloween event with entertainment, character meets and, of course, plenty of candy!
