If you’re looking for the perfect destination for a family getaway this spring, Jekyll Island, Georgia, just may be the perfect solution. Jekyll Ocean Club, sister hotel to the island’s historic Jekyll Island Club, is designed for guests to experience the treasure that is Jekyll Island, with accommodations created specifically to meet the needs of a modern family.
Each of the property’s 40 family-friendly suites faces the ocean, with beautiful views, cool breezes and private balconies. The rooms themselves consist of a spacious bedroom and a large, comfortable living room divided by a massive bathroom. It’s this unique layout, along with the large living room, that provides the perfect place for families to spread out and actually make the most out of their accommodations rather than being crowded into a single room. It is ideal for a family movie night or a place for the kids to play games and watch TV while moms and dads get some rest.

But you certainly won’t be confined to your room to entertain yourselves. There is a sandy beach right outside the hotel’s back door, along with a pool for those who prefer a contained swimming experience. Together with its sister property, Ocean Club offers great activities for families like movie nights by the pool and seasonal events for every holiday, like elf hunts at Christmas and bunny breakfasts for Easter.
You don’t have to go far for good food when staying on the property. The hotel is home to Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar, an open-air dining space that not only spans most of the grounds with roll-up windows to let in sunshine and fresh ocean breeze, but also spills out around the pool as well, so you can enjoy a meal inside or out. And if you and the little ones are spending the day on the sand, you’ll be close enough to run in and out for a meal whenever you are hungry without having to worry about stopping to wash off all the sand first. The menu is distinctively Southern, with creative twists and seasonal ingredients that let you explore the boundaries of your palette while still having plenty of options for even the pickiest members of your family.
You also have plenty of options available for dining as well as activities at Jekyll Island Club, which guests of Ocean Club are welcome to explore at their leisure. These properties offer transportation back and forth throughout the day, so you can explore the historic grounds of the resort, which includes beautiful cottages and majestic southern live oak trees draped in Spanish moss. Families can also visit Jekyll Island Museum; Mosaic; and learn about sea turtles at Georgia Sea Turtle Center, a sea turtle education and rehabilitation clinic located on property. Before you return to Ocean Club, grab an elegant meal at Grand Dining Room or enjoy the sunset with a casual bite at Wharf.
