Have a few sweet tooths in the family? Head to Cayuga County, New York, this fall and embark on this new family-friendly trail celebrating the best of the region’s bakeries, cafés, stores and u-pick fruit fields. Self-guided, this tour will satisfy every family traveler’s sweet tooth.

Featuring 21 partners, this trail includes places like Doughlicious, where specialty cinnamon buns are the highlight. Believe Bakery, another stop, offers gluten-free baked goods made in small batches in a NYS-registered home kitchen. Expect cakes, cupcakes, cookies and more at Shepherd’s Sugar, while Simply Delicious uses German recipes to create custom cookies.

Of course, the trail isn’t without its share of ice cream and Italian ice shops. Muzzi’s D’Italia Ice serves more than 25 flavors of Italian ice, from blue raspberry to cherry. This place has kept its recipe in the family for more than three generations. Muzzi’s also makes its own ice cream, like Cookie Monster, featuring cookies from the farmer’s market and Double Stuf Oreos; maple walnut sweetened with local syrup; and red raspberry swirl.
More ice cream awaits at Reese’s Dairy Bar, offering an array of ice cream treats like homemade ice cream, sherbet, French custard and more.
