Considered one of the best walkable neighborhoods in the country, San Diego’s Little Italy invites family travelers to stroll through its streets and piazzas reminiscent of Italian towns. With the allure of an old-world Italian city mixed with a contemporary vibe, families of all ages will find something tasty within.

In the area for the morning or early afternoon and need a pick me up? You’ll smell freshly brewed espresso at cafés lining the streets of the neighborhood. Caffé Italia and Frost Me Café and Bakery serve up fresh coffee drinks and pastries, many rooted in generations-old recipes.
When the whole family gets hungry, look no further than some of the restaurants on the main road, including Barbusa, Bencotto Italian Kitchen, Davanti Enoteca and Civico 1845. For instance, Davanti Enoteca features a classic Italian menu filled with delicious pastas, like cacio e pepe and rigatoni alla vodka, and fresh pizzas. And with a cuisine known internationally for its decadent desserts, don’t skip Bencotto Italian Kitchen’s tiramisu, cannoli and chocolate mousse.

Little Italy isn’t just home to cafés and restaurants but also boutiques. Charming shops and artisanal finds like Adelman Fine Art, Apollo Emporium and Verde comprise just some of the unique stores in the neighborhood.
For community events, don’t forget to head to Piazza della Famiglia, the central hub of Little Italy. After a day walking the streets, make the short walk to the waterfront promenade for views of the Pacific Ocean.
