Denver International Airport is known for a unique approach to helping weary, nervous travelers embarking on family travel and beyond to cope with stress. Its DEN CATS program brings a dedicated team of more than 80 canines and one cat that volunteer their time to offer comfort to anyone who could use a little furry TLC.
The Canine Airport Therapy Squad is known for wandering the airport in violet plaid vests decorated with the words “Pet Me” to encourage interaction. These cuddly comfort-givers offer free hugs and cute tail wags, bringing calming vibes to anyone in need of a break from their hectic travel schedule.
During the COVID pandemic, the CATS team has been responsibly following social distancing protocols. While the airport is fully operational, the members of this airport animal therapy program, the largest in the country, are making themselves available for virtual visits through the airport’s website. The adorable videos let you spend some time getting to know irresistible pets like a Jack Russell named Ripley, a basset hound named Almondine, or an enormous Newfoundland named Gus. These short videos give travelers a much-needed break and a reason to smile.
Each member of the team is trained, insured and registered with a recognized pet therapy association, ensuring adults and children alike enjoy safe, therapeutic interactions with a cuddly pet to make their journey even more memorable.
