Not quite ready to say goodbye to summer? If the weather is forcing you to head indoors, you can still take advantage of a few opportunities to splash around in the waves, without even being that far from the beach — thanks to the world’s largest indoor beachfront waterpark, which opened this summer in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

ISLAND Waterpark opened this June inside of Atlantic City’s Showboat Resort. The park spreads out across 120,000 square feet and contains more than 300,000 gallons of water, all coming together to offer some seriously cool features.

There are 11 total slides, including tube slides, mat racer slides and slides designed with the younger members of your family in mind. There’s also a 1,000-square-foot FlowRider surf simulator, where you can take surfing lessons or compete in a surfing tournament. The man-made waterfall is one of the largest custom waterfalls in the world. The lazy river takes up 6,500 square feet along one side of the park. For the parents, there are six bars and an adults-only space overlooking the waterpark and includes its own pool with a swim-up bar (the only swim-up bar in the city!).

“Atlantic City has long been one of the most iconic destinations for entertainment geared for adults, but now the ISLAND Waterpark at The Showboat Resort will open up a whole new world of family entertainment on the boardwalk,” said Bart Blatstein, owner, Showboat Resort. “When people see this, they will be blown away; it is truly like entering a tropical paradise and the best part is that people — both kids and adults — will be able to enjoy it all year round.”

Best of Both Worlds

Enjoy the best of both worlds when you fly with TAP Air Portugal thanks to the Portugal Stopover program. With the program, TAP passengers, whether traveling for business, leisure or both, can stop in Portugal for up to 10 days at no additional airfare on the way to their final destination. What does this mean for travelers wishing to explore by both land and sea? It means after flying to Portugal with TAP and experiencing the country in an entirely new way, travelers can then embark on scenic river and ocean cruises from  Portugal’s port cities, or fly with TAP to another European destination.
