Known for its mountain town charm and cool temperatures, Cloudcroft, New Mexico, has been a family traveler favorite for years. Now, the town gives families another reason to visit: Cloudcroft is officially the Christmas Capital of New Mexico. The title came after a recent proclamation from Cloudcroft Mayor William Denney.
What makes Cloudcroft such a holiday favorite in New Mexico? The town offers a variety of locally owned businesses and restaurants, nearby active adventures and an array of annual special events. During the holiday season, Pioneer Village transforms into a Vintage Christmas Village, the perfect place to get into the festive spirit.

Each winter, visitors can also enjoy a winter wonderland at The Burro Ave. Exchange. This year, the area will display a scene from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, complete with period costumes and carolers.
Local businesses also join in the holiday celebrations with holiday-themed items, winter specials and promotions, and more. This Nov. 24–25, the town also hosts its Christmas Market, starting at 10 a.m. on both days. At this market, find unique, handcrafted gifts or shop at more than 20 local stores to find the perfect gift.
