Sometimes a hotel is just a place to lay your head at night. Other times, the hotel is a key part of your experience.
My family recently visited Seoul, a city steeped in history, K-pop culture and K-beauty. When searching for a place to stay, I selected iconic Grand Hyatt Seoul. The hotel was the perfect choice for my family’s base in Seoul and made our trip so much better.
Grand Hyatt Seoul is a gorgeous, huge and sophisticated hotel perched on a hill. It has beautiful views of the city, yet thanks to its tranquil location next to a park, it feels calm and removed from the chaos.
Grand Hyatt Seoul is also surprisingly family-friendly. When my family stayed there, we enjoyed the hotel’s indoor and outdoor pools, as well as wandering around the hotel’s expansive grounds. The hotel also has a drop-in playroom perfect for younger kids.
Although I didn’t originally anticipate spending time in Namsean Park, adjacent to the hotel, my kids loved playing on the playground and going on gentle hikes along the park’s shaded walking paths.
When it was time to eat, we found plenty of options on site, including an enormous breakfast buffet, a café with sandwiches and pastries, and a formal restaurant. My family also enjoyed checking out traditional Korean convenience stores nearby to try local specialties and treats.
Although the hotel is a bit removed from city center, it’s easy to hop on a shuttle bus to reach a metro station in the heart of Seoul’s trendy Myeong-dong neighborhood. Or walk about 15 minutes to the closest metro stop. A public bus also stops just outside the hotel’s gates.
I can’t think of a more perfect place for families to stay in Seoul.
