Hotels

For years, whenever I asked my children where they wanted to go next, the answer was always the same. “Take us to Japan,” they said. When we finally made it, I put a lot of thought into where to stay.

I settled on Grand Hyatt Tokyo for its central location in the city’s safe and chic Roppongi Hills neighborhood, and the hotel’s easy access to a metro stop. Although we didn’t get to stay in the hotel’s famed Pokémon suite, available select times of the year, Grand Hyatt was the perfect base for exploring Tokyo with my family.

Grand Hyatt Tokyo has a beautiful pool and several on-site restaurants, serving everything from pastries and sandwiches to traditional Japanese omakase — and everything in between. The hotel also has a range of rooms to suit every family, including a family suite. Even better, kids ages 5 and under eat the hotel’s expansive breakfast buffet at no extra charge.

Plus, Grand Hyatt Tokyo offers children’s amenities, including bed guards, slippers, and traditional Japanese pajamas and slippers, available at no extra charge during your stay. If you need essentials, such as diapers, they have those, too. Grand Hyatt Tokyo also offers a special in-room dining menu for children, an activity sheet and even a children’s mani-pedi.

There is so much to do in Tokyo, and exploring the city with kids can be exhausting. Having a great hotel to use as our base in the city made all the difference.
