Travel Tips

There was a time when traveling by private jet was reserved for the ultra-rich and celebrities looking for luxury and privacy, but, in recent years, a new model of private jet travel opened the door for all of us, including family travelers, to experience this mode of luxury travel.

JSX offers what they call “hop-on jet service” to every customer, giving everyone the chance to travel like a celebrity — but at prices you can actually afford. Travelers arrive at the airport 20 minutes before their flight, valet their vehicle and hop right on the plane after a quick check-in.

The small cabins are spacious with comfortable leather seats that all have business-class legroom. Each guest receives complimentary gourmet snacks and in-flight beverages from dedicated flight attendants, making each guest feel like the only passenger. You can either share your flight with a small group of strangers or charter the entire cabin for your group.

The unique “hop-on” service model allows the airline to make flying much more convenient than commercial airlines, saving you up to two hours in the boarding process. This makes this mode of travel a great option for families wanting to avoid crowded airport terminals and long lines.  Cats and small dogs are permitted at no additional charge as long as they remain in a pet carrier in the cabin at all times.

JSX currently offers flights out of many airports like Los Angeles (LAX), San Diego (SAN), Reno/Tahoe (RNO), Las Vegas (LAS), Phoenix (PHX), Dallas (DFW), Houston (IAH), and Austin (AUS). East Coast routes run between Miami (MIA), Florida, and Westchester (HPN), New York. Beginning August, JSX will extend their reach with flights from Denver/Boulder (BJC) to Los Angeles and Dallas. Seasonal routes between the Midwest and Florida are available at different times throughout the year.

Experience the Night Sky Like Never Before in Oregon’s Outback

I’ve looked up at the night sky almost every night of my life and have always been fascinated by the way the experience changes from day to day and place to place. But on recent family travel to Oregon, I got to experience it like never before in the Oregon Outback. I was staying at the lovely Brasada Ranch in Powell Butte (not far from Bend) and, as the day came to a close, my group boarded a van with Wanderlust Tours and began the journey into a region of the Oregon desert known as the Oregon Outback.
