Universal Studios Orlando Announces New Fast & Furious Rollercoaster for 2027

Fast & Furious fans will have new reason to visit Universal Studios Orlando in 2027 when a themed rollercoaster opens. The outdoor ride will take over the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, demolished in 2025.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will draw inspiration from the film franchise and immerse riders in the high-speed world of Fast & Furious. The rollercoaster will feature a massive 170-foot vertical “spike” that will launch riders nearly 17 stories into the air above the edge of Universal CityWalk. Riders can also expect 360-degree drifting maneuvers at speeds of up to 72 mph.

Riders will feel as if they’re in their own cars, complete with headlights and a windshield.

Currently, Universal Studios Orlando is home to a different Fast & Furious-themed ride, Fast & Furious – Supercharged, and this simulation ride will permanently close in 2027 upon opening of the rollercoaster. The current ride has received mostly negative reviews from guests since opening in 2018 due to its screen-based effects, which many critics argue is a common feature in many of the newer rides at the park. Fast & Furious – Supercharged replaced the former Disaster! attraction, which many guests claimed was better.

Universal Studios Orlando isn’t the only location to debut the new rollercoaster. Universal Studios Hollywood will open its own version of the themed rollercoaster later this year. Further details of the ride will be revealed in the coming months.
