While the Maldives might not be on the top of the list for family travelers, Vakkaru Maldives is offering a unique experience that might pique their interests. The resort is expanding its collection of immersive marine experiences by adding new nurse shark snorkeling experiences, allowing guests to get close to one of the Maldives’ most interesting marine species.
Operated by Splash, the resort’s watersports and dive center, the experience provides an accessible and unique way to explore the underwater world of Baa Atoll. The hotel is within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, surrounded by bright and thriving coral reefs and marine biodiversity.
These new excursions take guests to a nearby nurse shark habitat, where the gentle and harmless sharks can be observed in their natural environment without being disrupted by major boats and challenging sea conditions.
Group snorkeling excursions are available every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday 2:30–4 p.m. Those looking for a more personalized experience can also book a private charter for the excursion.
Don’t let the fun stop here: This experience enhances Splash’s already impressive lineup of ocean adventures such as seasonal manta ray snorkeling in Hanifaru Bay, guided house reef snorkeling safaris, scuba diving, watersports, dolphin cruises, sunset excursions and private yacht charters.
