Destinations / North America

Roswell is well-known among alien enthusiasts seeking a close encounter, but many people don’t know watching for UFOs isn’t the only thing to do while you’re there. Don’t get me wrong — the extraterrestrial theme throughout Roswell is a great reason to plan family travel here, but in addition to UFO- and alien-related attractions, there are plenty of other ways to have fun in this New Mexico town.

Most attractions in Roswell take advantage of the alien theme, like the Alien Attack! display at Bricktown. Featuring several creative displays made from more than 850,000 Lego bricks, Bricktown’s exhibits are fun for everyone, from little ones who love building with Legos to adults who can appreciate the creativity, artistry and ingenuity that goes into making these creations.

If the kiddos are animal lovers, head to Spring River Zoo to explore five different animal areas, ride an antique wooden carousel and enjoy a day of fresh air. If the desert sun gets to be too much and your family loves the odd and unusual, head indoors to check out the unexpected collection at Miniatures and Curious Collections Museum. From all types of doll houses to animal figurines dressed in ornate costumes, there is something quirky and unusual for everyone at this interesting attraction.

No trip to Roswell would be complete without the obligatory stop at the UFO-shaped McDonalds, but your family can also get its extraterrestrial fix at International UFO Museum and Research Center, where you can learn all about the infamous 1947 UFO incident that put Roswell on the map. This pet-friendly museum features exhibits, first-hand witness stories and educational facts about the universe offering something for everyone.
