Newport, Rhode Island, invites family travelers to celebrate spring and summer with hotel news and seasonal events.
The Chanler at Cliff Walk reopened in March following a lobby and public space renovation. Claw & Hammer opened its doors earlier this month, specializing in stone crabs and other fresh seafood. Newport’s dining scene has plenty to celebrate, with Audette and Giusto named as semifinalists at the 2026 James Beard Foundation awards. Hotel Viking celebrates its 100th anniversary in May with the debut of a comprehensive renovation and four new culinary venues.

Newport celebrates America’s 250th with a sailing event at Newport Harbor June 5. Edward W. Kane & Martha J. Wallace Center for Black History debuts on Juneteenth. Managed by Newport Historical Society, the center will highlight the stories of Black figures in Newport. The city hosts an array of polo events June–September at Newport Polo, the country’s first polo club.
