On March 4, a SpaceX rocket launched from Florida, and for family travelers who missed this launch, fear not! No earlier than this April, NASA will send Artemis II to the moon. This mission will be the second flight of the Space Launch System and the first crewed mission of the Orion spacecraft, as well as the first crewed mission around the moon and beyond low Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972. The mission, originally scheduled for February, was pushed back to at least April due to technical factors.
While all viewing tickets at Kennedy Space Center are already sold out, the beauty of the rocket launch’s location is there’s multiple spots along Florida’s east coast to witness the rocket launch.
At Playalinda Beach on Canaveral National Seashore, you’ll get close-range views of the launch. Other great places to view the rocket include Titusville on Max Brewer Ridge, which offers direct views across Indian River Lagoon; Jetty Park Beach & Pier, south of the launch complex; and The Space Bar at Courtyard by Marriott Titusville, a rooftop bar with viewpoints.
Expect traffic and crowds for the event.
