Hotels

Buenos Aires is full of great neighborhoods, each with its own distinct character. During my family’s visit to the city, also known as the Paris of the South, we chose to stay in Buenos Aires’ lively San Telmo neighborhood.

Anselmo Buenos Aires, Curio Collection by Hilton is ideally located on historic Plaza Dorrego. It’s in one of Buenos Aires’ oldest neighborhoods, where streets are lined with cobblestones. The hotel is ideally located just steps away from Buenos Aires’ iconic San Telmo market, where families can explore endless food stalls selling everything from local specialty empanadas to perennial family favorites like pizza and burgers.

When it’s time to get out and explore, accessing the city is easy. The Anselmo is less than one mile away from the heart of Buenos Aires’ historic center, Plaza Mayo. My family was able to make the easy walk to the plaza in about 15 minutes. The Anselmo is also close to a subway station, providing easy access to other city attractions, including the famed Recoleta neighborhood and cemetery, and colorful Caminito in the La Boca area.

The hotel itself reflects the neighborhood’s old-world colonial charm. The Anselmo is part of Hilton and offers all of the modern conveniences travelers expect from the brand. However, it looks and feels like an independent hotel, from its exterior, which reflects the neighborhood’s colonial past, to the quirky rooftop pool lined with enormous pink flamingos. My family loved the hotel’s daily breakfast buffet, which features local specialties and American classics that my family enjoyed in an open-air pavilion lined with trees.
