Why Grenada is Perfect for Families

Destinations / Caribbean

Many families head to Bermuda or the Bahamas for Caribbean vacations and, while these islands are undeniably beautiful, some family travelers opt to head to less-crowded islands where they can access the same sand and sea without the crowds.

Grenada, also known as Spice Island, is a hidden gem among Caribbean islands. It’s the perfect destination for families in search of soft, white-sand beaches; crystal-clear blue waters; and plenty of opportunities for kid-friendly adventures.

When my family travels, we enjoy relaxing on the beach. However, after a day or two of sun and sand, my kids and I start to get restless. Grenada is a perfect choice for families like mine because the island is also home to a rainforest with hikes ranging in difficulty from gentle to rugged, stunning waterfalls perfect for swimming, and a national park where Mona monkeys roam wild. Families who like to snorkel can visit the world’s only underwater sculpture garden. Families can also tour a farm to learn how chocolate is made or take an e-bike tour to explore local towns.

Because Grenada is a small island, nothing is ever too far away. The entire island can be circumnavigated in about two hours, so families can make the most of their vacation without spending a ton of time commuting.

Grenada is also home to several family-friendly resorts. Six Senses La Sagesse is in a remote part of the island on a shimmering lagoon. Silversands Grand Anse is another family-friendly option. This beachfront resort boasts the longest infinity pool in the Caribbean. Both hotels have an on-site kids’ club and plenty of family-friendly activities.

Visit soon before this tranquil island skyrockets in popularity.

Two Family Escapes Where the Water Park Is Included

With travel costs on the rise, family travelers may be rethinking their spring and summer getaways and seeking out destinations where the built-in entertainment is included. Instead of adding expensive tickets and excursions, look for resorts that deliver high-impact experiences with water parks and activities all included in the stay. Two options, in The Bahamas and Orlando, offer just that:

Why All-Inclusives are Ideal for Families

I used to think I would hate staying at all-inclusive resorts. Because my family is usually on the go constantly, I thought my kids and I would get bored after a day or two of doing nothing but swimming and building sandcastles.

What to Know About New Rules Before Booking Flights to Europe

Summer will be here before you know it, which means you might be in the midst of planning your summer family travel to Europe. Things used to be fairly simple — buy plane tickets, book rooms and pack some bags. But there is a new rule in effect for a few months now, and you’ll want to familiarize yourself with it before you book those already overpriced (and only getting more expensive) flights.
