Camp Richardson may not be new to the tourist scene in South Lake Tahoe, but the fact generations of family travelers chose this historic location as a family vacation favorite makes it the ideal place for your next family getaway.

Dating back to the 1920s, when the first cabins and hotel were built on the property, Camp Richardson brings families the chance to explore the beautiful mountain landscape year-round. An outdoor lover’s dream come true, it offers endless fun for adventurous kids and their families, from swimming and water sports on the lake during the summer months to skiing and snowboarding during the winter. The resort offers rentals on equipment for every occasion, including tandem bikes for families to enjoy the local trails together.

In addition to the endless outdoor adventures waiting for them (think paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking and snowshoeing), kids love the extra touches that make Camp Richardson a family favorite, like the Ice Cream Parlor and the Coffee and Confectionery located near the camp’s Mountain Sports Center where they can stop in for a treat on a hot or cold day.

The resort is located along the southern shore of the lake in between two popular beaches, Pope Beach and Kiva Beach, and includes its own marina along the shore. Families find plenty of accommodation options, ranging from RV and camping options to the beachside hotel, along with family cabins in the woods and the seven-bedroom Richardson House, a cabin large enough to host a memorable family reunion.

There are so many fun things for kids to enjoy at Camp Richardson that the place is sure to become a favorite for your family as it has for so many others.
