Family travelers looking for one-of-a-kind skiing without the crowds or traffic may want to consider heading to Bozeman, Montana. The destination offers a stress-free alternative to its big-name neighbors. Within Bozeman is Bridger Bowl, located just 20 minutes from downtown, and featuring ultra-light powder, challenging ridge terrain and a laid-back vibe.
Bridger Bowl’s History and Terrain
Bridger Bowl was founded in 1955 by local volunteers who constructed the first rope tows and T-bars, and to this day it has stayed true to its roots as a community-owned, nonprofit ski area for more than 70 years. Now, the mountain offers 2,000 acres; 2,600 vertical feet; and its popular Ridge Terrain, a steep, expert-only run accessed by a hike.
A True Under-the-Radar Ski Experience
Other destinations are popular among national travelers, but Bozeman holds its own with uncrowded slopes, a relaxed mountain-town atmosphere and a more affordable winter escape for families.
Beyond the Lifts
Families can also enjoy Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and winter mountain biking on miles of nearby trails. Essentially, expect a variety of activities to fill their vacation days.
Where to Stay
Book a stay at the newly opened Field & Stream Lodge Bozeman, created to serve as a basecamp for winter adventure. The lodge features wool camp blankets, custom memorabilia, a Great Room, and a Supply Shop filled with gear and essentials.
