Winter Slopes, Waterslides and Springtime Fun at Great Wolf Lodge New England

Great Wolf Lodge

Budget

Whether you’re looking to enjoy winter sports with the kids or you’re already fantasizing about spring, the Great Wolf Lodge New England has you covered — and you won’t have to spend a bundle to have fun.

The 406-room lodge is luring families onto the slopes at Wachusett Mountain with a ski package that bundles in a 30 percent discount on lodging for at least two nights and four lift tickets. Visitors with time constraints can still get in on the deal with 20 percent off for a one-night stay, and the package is good through the ski season.

Half the fun of a stay at Great Wolf is the après ski, and we don’t mean the bar. The property is also known for its massive — 68,000 square feet, to be exact — 84-degree indoor waterpark, just right for warming up after a day on the slopes.

Or skip over winter altogether and time your visit to coincide with the annual Spring-a-Palooza, through April 28. Expect to see decorated public rooms, costumed characters and fun events during the six-week celebrations, all inspired by the transition from one season to the next.

Highlights include a Bubble Dance Party in the Grand Lobby, where families can dance along with Great Wolf Lodge’s Ambassadors of Fun amid a roomful of floating bubbles, and the Spring-a-Palooza Story Time, a nightly event starring Great Wolf Lodge story characters called Natural Wonders. Kids, who can attend in jammies, will even meet one of the Great Wolf Lodge characters in person.

Other fun includes a Jelly Bean Guessing Game, where guests can try to figure out, without going over, the number of jelly beans in a gigantic jar in the lobby. The guests closest to the correct number will be entered for a chance to win a Great Wolf Lodge gift card.

Spring-themed crafts are also on the menu, led by the Ambassadors of Fun and designed to appeal to kids of all ages. Character-themed crafting projects include Oliver’s Crazy About Bugs Jar, Violet’s Springtime Noodle Doodle, Brinley’s Don’t Blow Away Kite and Wiley’s Can You Spot It Binoculars.

Finally, new this year is Northwood’s Tea Party with Violet & Friends, featuring a wolf named Violet and her friends who will lead the fun with songs, dances, cookie decorating, crafts and games and, of course, afternoon tea.

The property is located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, about an hour’s drive from Boston, and all stays include free admission to the waterpark and complimentary WiFi and parking. Other amenities include a climbing wall, a games arcade, mini-golf, a bowling alley and a ropes course.
